Venomous Snake Bite! (How to Treat Snake Bite)
Venomous Snake Bite!
It is still important to take snake bites seriously. While some are dry bites, which are not as dangerous and are likely to cause some swelling, some are venomous bites, which can result in death if not handled carefully and rapidly. If you've been bitten by a snake, always seek urgent medical treatment as it may be a matter of life and death.
Snakes bite either in order to capture prey or in order to defend themselves. But because there are so many different types of snakes, not all snake bite is created equal, for both venomous and non-venomous.
Various species bear various forms of venom. Among the main groups are:
- Cytotoxins: Cause swelling and damage to the tissues anywhere you are bitten.
- Haemorrhagins: Blood vessels are broken.
- Anti-clotting agents: avoid clotting in the blood.
- Neurotoxins: Cause nervous system paralysis or other damage.
- Myotoxins: Muscles break down.
