The local authority could draw up a plan to protect your child after a child protection meeting. A child protection plan is called this. This page tells you more about plans for child protection.

A safety strategy for children is a program drawn up by the local authority. It sets out how to keep the child safe, how to make things easier for the family, and what kind of help they will need. You should, as a parent, be told:

• The justification for the proposal

• What do to ensure your child is safe

• What services are provided

• Who you can contact to learn more.

By taking into account the details presented at the child protection meeting, the local authority will determine if a child protection plan is required. They are going to base their decision on:

• known family history, including the previous contact with agencies like healthcare professionals and social workers

• their earlier investigations

• It carried written and verbal evidence to the Conference on Child Safety. The chair at the conference on child safety must take into account the opinions of other experts who have given evidence but do not have to follow such opinions.

If the child protection conference decides that the child is suffering significant harm, or is likely to suffer, a child protection plan will be drawn up by the local authorities.
